... Only 10% of the ballet dancers was truly ready to start at the point when they attend the assessment.
90% of the dancers who attended the assessment are not ready. We would suggest for them to see us in clinic for 4-6 weeks to gain the strength and technique necessary for pointe.
We want to change these statistics. We want our dancers to be strong and ready, both physically and mentally for pointe work. We want them to know what to expect, and honour this transition period because setting the right foundations can change your trajectory as a dancer.
After working with thousands of dancers to perfect their pointe and ballet techniques, we decided to create our Rise to Pointe Program to give you a step to step guide to getting en pointe safely and gracefully.
Achieve beautiful long lines in ballet using the right muscles
Achieve the Pointe range required and maximise your pointing potential
Strengthen your feet and ankles, but also your turnout muscles, core, and perfect your overall alignment
Become a stronger dancer, and nip those bad habits in the bud
Be adaptive to the body changes you will go through during puberty
Have access to our Dance Physiotherapist team during this critical time to answer all questions you have.
Winnie and her staff are all amazing. My girls have gained strength and flexibility going twice a week. They can relate to dancers and they target and try to find a solution that is required for individual needs. My daughters feel much happier as dancers knowing that they can move certain range in their dance movements. Highly recommend! Friendly staff, attention to detail, explains what is required to improve or goals to reach. My girls couldn't have been more happier.

Winnie is fantastic. I originally attended the studio for treatment on my hamstring. Winnie provided me with a few session of physio then suggested pilates for strengthening and reconditioning and have been pain free since. I would highly recommend Winnie and the team at the Movement Laboratory

"Rise to Pointe" is designed to cater to dancers who are in transition into pointe work, regardless of age.
This program is suitable for both adult ballet dancers, and young dancers between 10-14, male and female (there are male dancers using pointe to strengthen their feet! Bravo!)
The exercises included are all exercises we have repeatedly used to prepare dancers for pointe over the last 10 years in clinic, and are suitable for all dancers who need to strengthen their feet to get en pointe safely.
This program DOES NOT replace the Pre Pointe Assessment. Rise to Pointe highly increases the chance of dancers passing their Pre Pointe Assessment in one go.
If they have not yet done their assessment, we'd advise dancers to complete this program before seeing us in clinic.
If they have already done their assessment but not yet gain approval for pointe, we'd recommend them to complete this program alongside their homework.
If they have already transitioned to pointe but in the early stages between 1 to 3 months in, we'd still recommend this to be a great resource for them to go through to continue to gain strength as a young dancer.
Additionally, our program offers the flexibility of online learning, making it accessible to dancers worldwide.
We've designed "Rise to Pointe" with minimal equipment requirements in mind. All you need is a small space at home to practice, and our program can be completed with basic ballet gear. You won't need a fully-equipped dance studio or specialized equipment.
Yes, there is! We understand the importance of support and want to provide a safe environment for dancers to ask their questions. Dancers are welcomed to email us their questions in the 8 weeks period, and our dance physios will respond within 48 hours.
Once you join "Rise to Pointe," you'll receive immediate access to our comprehensive program materials, including all future updates. (Our portal access starts on 1st March)
We'd LOVE for your dancer to pass the assessment. However on occasion where the dancer does not pass the assessment after completing the program, our team is there to work with your dancer. There may be other contributing factors to weakness or mobility deficit, and as dance physios, we can treat, teach, and support them throughout this journey in clinic.
We offer exclusive discounts on pre-pointe assessments, pointe shoes, and dance conditioning classes to "Rise to Pointe" participants. These discounts are part of our commitment to your dancer's success. You'll receive details on how to access these discounts once you join the program, making it easy for you to take advantage of these valuable offers.
